The relevance of the new ICD-10 code: "Underimmunization status" - Part Deux
Why no ICD-10 codes for COVID injection injuries?
So as you all know because you all read every word of my previous article on this subject matter (ahem), there are some fancy new ICD-10 codes to tag people who are either ‘partially’ or ‘fully’ injected with COVID injectable products.
What many of you will also know is that there are currently over 14,000 (14,990) of the 24,289 Preferred Term (PT) MedDRA codes as part of the MedDRA coding structure (that’s ~62% use of the terms as opposed to <20% in the past for all vaccines combined), being used in the context of the Pfizer, Moderna, Janssen, Novavax and the bivalent shots in VAERS as of February 3, 2023.
So my question is, if there are so many types of MedDRA codes being invoked in the context of the COVID shots, and there are also ICD-10 codes to describe COVID-19, then why are there no ICD-10 codes to describe a single COVID-injection injury?
So when you go to the ICD-10 code website and type COVID into the search bar you get 29 hits including the creepy ones indicating ‘Underimmunization’.
Under U09.9 they have all sorts of specific injuries attributed to COVID-19 including loss of smell, taste MIS and pulmonary fibrosis. That’s good! Well done on being sort of up-to-date. It goes on to include ICD-10 codes for pneumonia and then you’ll notice other codes indicative of dosing details of COVID injectable products as Procedure Codes as opposed to a Diagnosis Codes. You’ll also notice the words “New Technology Group X” following the description. Hmm. New technology, eh?
The last page is more of the same for COVID and its harms.
Now type vaccine into the search bar. 208 hits. So there are plenty of ICD-10 codes used to describe specific injuries associated with specific products. Not so with our friend Mr. COVID-19.
From Smallpox to ‘other’ viral and bacterial vaccines, lots and lots of ICD-10 codes. My personal favorite is A80.0: Acute paralytic poliomyelitis, vaccine-associated. Nice.
D75.84 really piqued my interest. You can see it described here.
Still no mention of COVID-19 injectable products. Yet.
Haha! Check out Z71.89. Guns in the home. It’s almost they’re saying, “Man, don’t mess with that guy. He decided natural immunity is best for him and he has a gun. Leave that one alone.”
They’ve got anaphylaxis covered on the final page, but still no mention of the COVID-19 injectable products, which is weird because it’s a known adverse event in the context of these products and has even prompted the withdrawal of a particular batch (041L20A) from commercial use.
So where are the ICD-10 codes for injuries due to the COVID-19 injectable products?
Where? It’s been 2 years you bozos. I am sorry to call you bozos but this is serious and it needs ATTENTION! We need answers and we need to give the injured OUR BEST!
