What’s taking place in Canada is terrifying and maddening.
Essentially every time working-class people have revolted against the establishment in recent years, the left has joined with the centrists to denounce them as fascists.
The Brexit vote? Fascists! The Trump revolt? Super fascists! The gilets jaunes? French fascists! It’s like a tic at this point, a form of political Tourette’s bred of the left’s profound disorientation.
What we see around the world is a populist movement against the entire ‘laptop class’ – the elite that has relied on workers more than ever throughout the pandemic, bringing them their Amazon deliveries and takeout. At the same time, they typed away at home, which has repaid these workers by destroying them with one punishing, impoverishing Covid rule after another.
I believe you that these are not the local police, certainly not the Ottawa police. They are too well armed and trained, too deliberate, too coordinated.
Yet, they ARE there in support of the local police, they have been brought in to do local police operations, and none of the local police organizations are resisting or otherwise condemning this activity.
I can no longer agree with you that we should 'back the blue.' Our police forces have become too militarized, and are not peace officers. They have become war fighters. They are cowardly, in that they will not risk their own jobs and family security to fight against tyranny. They will stand down in the face of violent protest, but will not stand up in the face of peaceful protest.
We have revered them too long. Let's see them for what they are; scared, subservient, silent.

My parents were Romanian, though they left in the 1930s. I know other Romanians here in Australia who lived under Ceaucescu and with the Covid mandates in Australia, they have been re-living some of the dark days of their homeland.
