Personal Anecdote re: shingles

I'm 74. Chicken Pox as child in the '50s

Never had a flu jab.

Last jab sometime around 1990, except took the first shingles shot around 2005?

Didn't take the "shingrix" jab.

Refused covid jabs, also wife not jabbed, so no one in household took it.

Winter 2022 developed moderate case of shingles, chest, right arm, back. Docs recommended an antiviral. I consulted a naturopath and decided against the antiviral, instead large doses of Vit C and D and a herbal formula, cleared up in a few weeks, no lingering issues since.

Very odd that I developed the shingles, perhaps picked up from someone shedding?

I don’t know if this is relevant but figured I would write anyway. In 2010, my healthy 80 year old mother fell mysteriously ill. Ended up intubated and unconscious in ICU. A spinal tap finally diagnosed the mystery ailment as Herpes Encephalitis. Life support was discontinued. She died on day 10. A short time later, I found out that a week prior to her falling ill, she had received the shingles vaccine. I assume this would be a similar situation of the activation of a latent virus? This was 2010 so not Shingrix vax but it’s predecessor. Devastating and tragic and sent me down the path to becoming an official Skeptic. The silver lining, if there is one.

I had a facial shingles reactivation after the 2nd Moderna jab in 3/2021. I didn't report it, as I didn't realize what was going on until over a month after. My first shingles outbreak was horrendous, the reactivation was those same facial nerves tingling, itching and sensitive, but not as severe as the initial outbreak. I got the jab in my car, at Dodgers Stadium. There was no follow up; I made an appointment to visit my PCP, who was only interested in prescribing Shingrix. and he was generally unreceptive to patient input. And, with the lockdowns and paranoia, an appointment was not easy to book.

My point is that I am a part of that underreporting. The medical establishment is certainly not encouraging or enabling reporting.

I thought the dancing people were reacting to their shingles itches. You def need to change all the red shingles people to hopping with itch dancing guys.

PS - my sister’s vax-happy in-laws got a shingles vax many years ago and her father-in-law got shingles within a few weeks. Her mother-in-law got her second booster a month after her TIA. Her father-in-law became more unsteady than he already was, fell and broke his back. He had been medically cleared for surgery, but died of a heart attack in the hospital the day before surgery even though he had no Hx of heart problems. Dr was shocked. I wasn’t.

My sister had a temporary third boob from swollen lymph nodes. Her husband had sudden onset sever heartburn and after an I conclusive scope, Dr worried he might have a heart problem so he had to have EKG prior to his knee replacement. He got 2 blood clots in his lung post surgery despite all the machines he was hooked to to prevent blood clots.

My cousin with Sjogren’s had EBV after her booster last year but her Dr insisted it wasn’t related. She’s been on HCQ for 10 years so not like she needed vax anyway.

And my mom went deaf in an ear after her 2nd Moderna.

My husband’s god daughter, age 27, just finished nursing school in Mass so I know she’s vaxxed. Got pregnant, hospitalized several times, preeclampsia, had to be induced and deliver a month early due to her BP going crazy.

My husband’s unhealthy cousin (ex-smoker, obese, Hx heart problems) isolates, almost never leaves her apt, has all the bax and boosters and has had covid 6 times. Her brother worked at Home Depot throughout and has never had it. He was probably micro-dosed. He smokes, too, and I’ve ready that offers some sort of protection in a twist.

🎉

This jogged my memory: my boss from 2 years ago took early retirement last year (he was in his early 50's). He had told me that he had had 3 (three!) reoccurences of shingles, the latest being on his face which was excrutiating. Only afterwards did it occur to me that maybe, just maybe, this might have been linked to his double jabbed status.... I'm not a scientist or anything like that but it's certainly curious.

Unreal, how in the world can a scientist have clear conscience on claiming definitive conclusions without a control group? Even Middle School science class knows that basic tenet of an experiment and/or analyzing data. Shingles was the first viral eruption after an MMR for me, and then the wheels fell off my immune system with chronic opportunistic infections - Wild Measles, EBV, Coxsackie, Herpes, etc. after many doctors and an antibody challenge with DTap and Pneumovax they said I was born with Primary Immune and Specific Antibody Deficiency...seriously? I had these problems without any issues for over 50y? I quit the doctors and I ended up using a variety of supplements, especially Real Mushrooms 5 Defender, Lion's Mane, Chaga, Reishi and Cordyceps and Elderberry Syrup and Lysine and healed my immune system. the MMR blew a hole in my immune system, thankfully it made me absolutely see through the insanity of a warp speed brand new never before used genetic therapy product. My sister-in-law is having chronic hives after booster #1 (3 jabs total) and they wanted her to use immunotherapy, she finally gave 5 Defenders and Reishi a try with extra C and Elderberry and Lysine, lo and behold, she's on the longest stretch without an outbreak, even though she hasn't stopped taking 3 types of antihistamines, she is off of prednisone. Thanks for "listening".

I would think that the reactivation of CMV in a pregnant woman could be the cause for some of the damage we are seeing in the babies who manage not to abort.

Jessica, do you have any info on seizures about about 3 weeks after boosters? My 59 year old sister in law is currently on a ventilator after having some blood pressure spikes and had a seizure. She collapsed on the ER floor after her son brought her in with excruciating head pain. They think she will be okay but my brother, who is an attorney, is looking for anything that may point in that direction so, if for no other reason, to keep her from getting any more shots in the future. She was unaware of any harms and was simply doing what her physician told her. Everything is so censored, it's difficult to find any real data. Thank you for any help.

Sounds about right. Nothing to see here. Shingles cases markedly increased after vaccine but can't possibly have anything to do with the vaccine. I skimmed that article pretty fast and saw nothing about encephalitis. Just a reminder that shingles is not always benign and does rarely cause encephalitis. It would be interesting to know if these cases had a higher incidence of this than shingles unrelated to vaccines. Thanks for the great review of that article. The Science rolls on with more poor studies.

Love the dancing guys. Magnanimous of you to add them to the unvaxxed group too.

I thought your dancing guys were surfers. Sucharit says there will be lots of shingles and TB in the jabbed. I had shingles about 12 years ago and read that the chance of having them again is 1 in 20.

But what if I kiss a lady who has had 2 jabs?

Thanks not only for the specifics but also for an intro lecture on proper study design. Good to have reinforcement of that curriculum these days, improving our critical thinking, as was for example recently offered in the book Turtles All the Way Down... an important if not perfect primer written for the layperson, providing an overview of the rampant layers of problems with Pharmas version of vaccine science.

The shingles re-activation is not limited just to Pfizer and Moderna jabs. My friend’s husband got severe shingles after a jab from an Indian made Covid vax.
