I loved the interview and getting to know you better. (also my 1st time hearing Robert Scott Bell who does a nice down home interview.) I think of you as a friend I just never met in person. The professor and you working through the night and him saying "isn't this the best life ever" resonates because that is what work should be. The discussion about surfing - that was something I always wanted to do since Endless Summer came out in theaters about when I graduated from high school. But later I did get to take up scuba diving and went through Naui Dive Master. I got to dive Florida Bonaire (many times) Aruba and Curacao, Virgin Islands, Hawaii, Tahiti, Fiji, and the Great Barrier reef. Loved it all.
I may have felt the intensity, if not the same kinetic and zen nature of the immersion you feel surfing. My experiences were roller rink skating faster than 90% of others and flowing around & among them. Equally immersing was impersonating a mountain goat hopping from (3 to 8 foot) boulder to boulder, varying shapes and spacing on a large breakwater. Total focus or you could die - I sometimes did this when no one else was around,and
