CLIA - Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments Act.

Or why most doctors send you to a lab instead of drawing blood and running it in the office. Labs have to be overseen by a pathologist.

My doctor has his nurse take the blood sample. It us then sealed and and mailed to a specialist company for a complete analysis the results of which are then faxed to the doctor's office or via email, I am not sure which. I never get to seem them !
