Thank you Jessica for this speech mentioning Josephine Baker. I was born during the war near the Chateau des Milandes she owned in Dordogne near Sarlat. She received the highest honour from De Gaulle as “Compagnon de la Libération”. There were only 1038 recipients among them 6 women received it. Josephine Baker does rest among the greatest French heroes in the Pantheon 46 years after her death.
I just hope Prof. Luc Montagnier who passed away last February and who deserves the same recognition for his scientific work may rest one day close to Marie Curie. This Nobel laureate was among the first to alert against the reckless decision to vaccinate during a pandemic, “…it shall just create more variants.”
